‘The secret’
On a deadening, cold, and boring Wednesday afternoon, I was walking through the long aisles of the school library, when I came across a ravishing, young man with the face of an angel. I noticed he began to walk toward me and I found my knees shaking and eyes widening.
“Hello,” he said with a voice that sounded like a mixture of Jesus and Fergie.
All I could do was smile as he continued to speak,
“I’m sorry for bothering you, it’s just, I saw you from across the aisle, and I couldn’t believe I laid eyes on someone as beautiful as yourself.”
“Oh shucks. That’s really sweet of you to say. I was just looking for the 37th edition of Captain Underpants. Could you help me out?”
“Really? That’s crazy! I just returned that book. Here let me get it for you.”
“O.M.G! We’re so compatible!”
“That’s what I was thinking. Do you want to go get something to eat?”
It was a terrific way to end my upsetting day and we really kicked it off that day. As time passed and our dates began to multiply, six months into our relationship, he sat me down with a serious look on his face.
“I have a secret to tell you.”
I was shocked and didn’t know what to expect. I began to panic. He grabbed onto my hands, looked me in the eyes, and confessed.
“I’m a spy-kid, Gregorio Cortez is my uncle. I work for the OSS… I didn’t tell you before hand because I was on a classified mission and didn’t know how long I would be staying in this area.”
“I… I… I don’t know what to say…” I said befuddled.
“Before you start to feel overwhelmed, you should know, I quit my job so I can stay with you.”
“I forgive you. However, you should have told me sooner, ‘Secret Agent’… you had me worried, thank God it was only that.”
We held hands, skipping off into the pleasant sunset.
